Tool Parabola Guitar Hero

Parabola is a song by American rock band Tool. The song was released as the second single from their third studio album Lateralus. Initially released in 2002 as a promo only, the single was re-released on December 20, 2005, which includes the song and a DVD containing the music video and an optional dual audio commtary on the video by Jello Biafra of Dead Knedys. The dual commtary consists of two separate recordings of Biafra's voice, one playing in each stereo channel. The DVD was released alongside a DVD single for Schism as well. The song uses a modified drop-B tuning for the guitars.

The song is featured on the video game Guitar Hero World Tour. The song was played onboard Space Shuttle mission STS-130, as a wake-up call for astronaut Robert Behnk.

In support of this promo single, a music video was released – clocking in at over t minutes because of the inclusion of the 3-minute Parabol lead-in (a separate track on the album set right before Parabola). The last note in Parabol can also be heard at the beginning of Parabola in Guitar Hero: World Tour.

Guitar Hero World Tour

It was directed by Adam Jones and, like other Tool videos, includes several abstract sces (which can be se on the single art).

These include humanoids meeting and cutting pomaceous fruit, th vomiting a black liquid in a circle. Another sce features interactions betwe a small stop-motion creature and a human (played by glish musician Tricky). The small creature calls out to the man for help but is crushed by The Berry. The man dissects the creature's body, th wanders into a forest and counters a leaf that turns into a flaming eye.

The man th sees himself as transpart, with all the internal functions of his body visible. Two flaming eyes appear and begin to fly around his body. As the eyes glide about, lotus flowers symbolizing the Chakras, begin to line up in the cter of his body. The two flaming eyes th join together on his forehead to form a third eye and the man is assimilated into an dless, glowing pattern. The whole sequce could be a visual prestation of a mystical experice called Kundalini awaking, in which a mystical ergy or force called Kundalini rises through two intertwined channels within the body.

Painter Alex Grey created the design and was deeply involved in the animation from the beginning of the flaming eye sequce through to the d of the video. If these curious screenshots found over at Tool fan Web site The Tool Hotline are to be believed, three of the band’s songs will appear in Activision’s upcoming Guitar Hero World Tour: “Vicarious, ” “Schism, ” and “Parabola.”

While the band or its songs have yet to be confirmed for the Neversoft-developed full-band game, rumors and supposed leaks have hinted that they would be included. This is the Internet we’re talking about, after all, and these screens certainly aren’t a solid confirmation.

Parabola

We will say this: having sat in on demos of Guitar Hero World Tour being played, the menus and images in the screens don’t necessarily match up with what we’ve seen. With that said, these images could be taken from the game’s single-player tour mode, which we haven’t yet seen in action.

We’ve pinged Activision Blizzard reps for comment, so if we hear anything, we’ll let you know. In the meantime, take in this information with nine pounds of salt. After the jump, find a rumored “leaked” set list from the upcoming game as well. More salt, please!
