A popular rock band on the Easy Guitar Tabs’ blog. The Nirvana was founded by the Croatian descent bassist Krist Novoselic and guitarist Kurt Cobain. The history of the band started in a small town called Aberdeen , where the members of Nirvana were raised. Dave Grohl, former drummer for the punk band Scream, joined Nirvana in 1990. The group released their first record, Bleach in 1989. It only sold out about 35, 000 copies. In the year of 1991 they released the album called Nevernind, wich became a gold album. At a time when metal was extraordinarily popular, Nevermind signaled a cultural shift in the music industry. The album helped the band become famous, and get a superstar status. The opening song “Smells like teen spirit” became the band's most successful composition. On April 8, 1994, Kurt Cobain’s body was found in his home in Seattle. The cause of death was determined to be suicide. This tragic event ended the Nirvana's brief run.
