For over 60 years the M 88 microphone is still considered the reference in the field of dynamic moving-coil microphones due to its outstanding technical properties.

The M 88 dynamic moving-coil microphone is the go-to microphone for when your session requires the highest demands from a mic, its convincing with its flexible application options. It can be used for miking vocals or instruments in the studio or on stage and is particularly popular for miking kick drums and guitar cabs. That said, when miking a kick drum, a WS 59 wind shield should also be used.
How To Get Good Results When Recording Electric Guitar In An Untreated Home Studio Using A Mic And Amp Set Up
The M 88 directional properties are close to the theoretically possible values, reducing the risk of acoustic feedback to an absolute minimum. And due to the balanced frequency response, the most diverse sound sources are exactly reproduced, and a signal is created that can be processed easily and at will.
The wide frequency response, outstanding bass reproduction, high sensitivity and the almost perfect hypercardioid polar pattern are what makes the M 88 special.
The M 88 has continued to be manufactured at our company's site in Heilbronn, Germany, for several decades – traditionally by hand.

Beyerdynamic Beyerdynamic M88 Tg Dynamic Microphone
Some products are born classics and the M 88 has to take centre-stage for being far ahead of its time when it was first introduced in the 1960’s. Incorporating a new low-mass diaphragm element, the M 88 TG has earned its place in history in the Kick Drum. Sound engineers have found that the lightening-fast response of the microphones reproduces the complex sound patterns of this instrument resulting in the tight thump without the need for complex signal processing. This characteristic works equally well on other instruments especially where intricate low frequencies and their harmonics need to be captured. The M 88 TG is one of the most frequently specified microphones by sound engineers worldwide and heralded a beyerdynamic contemporary classic as this microphone becomes renown for capturing emotive audio signals.
Excellent quailty, it works fine with a little bit of EQ. M88 TG is the best choice because I don´t require a condenser mike to produce a great beat in my drum set.

Excellent characteristics, wide frequency range and field of application for recording and live performances. It has a very big sound, bright, smooth sound out of the speakers. It can be used for woodwind instruments, vocals, bass, drums, and sound amazing! Highly recommended!

I normally use this on Bass guitar cabs, gives a lovely crisp high mid that helps the bass guitar poke through the mix
Excellent characteristics. I use it for recording. I use it for recording vocals and drums, in particular my BD and Hihat. Quality product!
Does It Doom?

Is It Better To Increase Or Reduce Treble Output When Recording An Electric Guitar Amp With A Microphone?
