Spring weather in Switzerland today, first time of the year I go play in my garden for the birds, squirrels and deer audience
I didn't find much information about this brand, it was sold by Schertler as a demo guitar used in their showroom. I bought it for $450 with a hard case and a M-AG6 pickup which is worth $250. It has a few scratches and dings and the finish seems to had some kind of bad reaction where the guitar must have been sitting on a stand. There is also some tiny spots on the top, only visible under some angles and lighting conditions. I don't know if I can do anything about it, I'm gonna ask my luthier when I see him. However, it's not a big deal as I bought this guitar as a beater I can carry around without worrying too much.
It's all solid with a sitka top and rosewood back and sides. It has a mahogany neck, pau ferro fretboard and bridge, Tusq nut and saddle, ebony pins, abalone rosette and inlays, flame maple binding.
Best Travel Guitars 2024: Top Acoustic And Electric Options
It's my first rosewood guitar, my other ones are Eastman AC222 ( sitka / ovangkol ) and AC522 ( european /mahogany ). It sounds great! I would describe the tone as dark and dreamy with beautiful overtones. It doesn't feel as responsive as my AC522 for fingerpicking but still sounds great and even better while strumming. The fit and finish is not as impressive as my Eastmans, a few very minor imperfections I can see upon close inspection but nothing major. It's pretty heavy, the braces look thicker and not as cleanly scalloped as my Eastmans but overall it's pretty well built and looks great. The neck is what I like the least on this guitar, it's v-shaped with a 43mm nut. I prefer the necks of my Eastmans which feel perfect to me. But still it's very playable. The tuners are awesome! They feel just as good if not better than the Gotoh I have on my AC522. They are very smooth and hold tune very well, I gave them a bending stress test and they didn't move at all. The guitar itself seems very stable, I can let it sit in it's case for 2 weeks and it stays perfectly in tune.
They listed it on an auction website in a wrong category with wrong specs so I was the only bidder, it feels like a bargain for this price.
The pickup is awesome! I also purchased the optional S-MIC-M condenser and an external cable to use it on my other guitars. I have a small electric combo in my living room (Marshall AVT 275), not ideal for playing an acoustic but with this pickup I get a beautiful clean natural tone. I was really surprised by the sound I get through this amp because the LR baggs Element and Fishman Sonitone built in my other guitars didn't sound good at all.
