Guitar Guitar Reverend

Guitar Guitar Reverend

Are you looking for acoustic overtones of a full-size semi-hollow, but with extra clarity and spank, all in a bolt-on sized package? Routed from the top, one slab of Korina creates the back and sides of each Club King 290, and a solid Spruce top caps it. P-90s add just the right amount of raw edge to the rich and woody tones. With strong resonance, excellent sustain, and pronounced attack, the tone is big, unique, and responsive.

We design our own proprietary custom pickups, to achieve the best tonal match with our instruments. Reverend pickups are also specifically designed for each position, for balanced volume and tone when switching.

Roasted Maple is heat treated at over 300° F to remove sugars, moisture, and impurities. This maple is lighter, more stable, and has a beautiful caramel color. The result is an exceptional maple neck that will require less seasonal adjustment, and boasts a rich vintage look!

Riding The Storm: Reverend Guitar's Uncompromising Commitment To Music

Korina (aka White Limba) is a medium-light weight wood, highly prized for consistency and tonal qualities. Often found in boutique and vintage instruments, all Reverends feature Korina bodies. A highly resonant wood, Korina is a key factor to producing our lively, responsive instruments that are rich in harmonics.

The paint on a Reverend is thinner than most production guitars, allowing the body to vibrate more freely, for a more resonant and lively tone. Thick finishes might look a little 'slicker', but at Reverend, tone is a top priority. Our finish is also UV cured, which means it's 100% dry from day one, unlike vintage-style nitrocellulose finishes, which can take years to fully dry.

This passive bass roll-off is great for tightening up the low end, or re-voicing the pickups. It can make a humbucker sound like a single-coil, or give a P-90 that classic twang. Variable pickup voicing at your fingertips!

A thumbwheel under the tuner pushes a steel pin up through the post, locking the string in place for exceptional tuning stability and super-fast string changes.

Every Reverend is hand initialed and serial numbered on the back of the headstock by one of our highly skilled technicians who sets up, inspects, and tests every instrument.

Our Bigsby tremolo system feels great and stays in tune all night long! We install a custom Soft Touch spring into all our Bigsbys for easy, smooth action. Our roller bridge works with our Pin-Lock tuners and Boneite nut to create a system that strings glide through every time.

Our proprietary knobs feature a lower profile which is less likely to be accidentally hit by the player's hand, and the white dot lets you easily see where your knob rotation is set.

We use Boneite, a synthetic bone nut, that is more consistent than natural bone, on all Reverend instruments. It reduces friction, allowing the strings to slide through the nut slots smoothly, improving tuning stability.

This patent-pending string tree has an extended bar to hold down three strings at a time with just one tree, eliminating G string buzz in the nut slot.

Our dual action rod adjusts in both directions, allowing back bow or forward bow. This assures correct adjustment range is possible regardless of string tension, extreme climate conditions, or the effects of long term aging. It’s also located at the headstock for easy access.

Two extra bolts increase mounting pressure of the neck by fifty percent. This makes a stronger neck connection, which improves sustain, tuning stability, and neck alignment.

All Reverends use an upgraded jack by Pure Tone Technologies. A standard jack has single contacts, but the Pure Tone jack has dual contacts for improved grip, audio signal and reliability. The most dependable guitar jack available.

Toledo Area Business Sets Tune As Guitar Specialist

All Reverend guitars have a treble bleed circuit, preserving the treble when you roll back the volume control. When you roll back a standard volume control, the tone loses treble and becomes dull sounding. Now you can turn down and still sound great!

We use Alpha control pots with a +-10% rating. While a typical pot is +-20%, our pots are built to tighter specifications, making them more consistent. Typically used in expensive boutique guitars, but standard issue in all Reverends.

We use caps with a +-10% rating, while a typical cap is +-20%. Our caps are made to tighter specifications, so they’re more consistent. Made of polyester, they’re also longer lasting, and less affected by temperature than cheaper ceramic caps. Typically used in expensive boutique guitars.

They are fast becoming

2020 has seen a number of exciting new models step up to the plate for a swing, and we thought it was worth picking out just a few of our favourites, to see what has been making this brand such a talking point for guitarists. Prior to that, though, we felt that it may be useful to highlight some of the features that are relevant to all Reverend models.

, to give it it’s Sunday name) for the guitar bodies. Guitar fans know this as a superior tone-wood, striking similar sonic notes to Mahogany, and having a lovely, subtle grain. It is also available in plentiful supply, so there is a degree of responsibility there, too. All Reverend guitars use Korina for their bodies.

Next, all Reverends are fitted with pin-lock tuners and ‘Boneite’ nuts. This is all about tuning stability. Boneite is synthetic bone, which carries all of the benefits of bone (strings don’t get snagged as they move) but is longer lasting. The tuning pegs lock the string in place to stop it slipping: one the string is stretched in (you do do that, don’t you?), tuning issues should be minimal to non-existent.

Also, on all bolt-on guitars, like several of our selections today, Reverend use a special 6-bolt neck join for extra pressure and sustain. All of their bolt-on necks are also made from Roasted Maple! Lots of companies are beginning to wake up to the superior feel of a torrefied neck, but not many include it across the board. Torrefaction, the process of removing all moisture from the timber through high temperatures, results in a stronger, more resonant wood, too. Plus, it looks gorgeous!

The most famous feature, however, of any Reverend guitar, is surely the bass contour control. This simple passive control (in other words, no need for a battery) is what synth players and producers would refer to as a high-pass filter. It gradually, as you turn the knob, cuts out your bass frequencies, but leaves the rest of your tone fully intact. The idea with this on a guitar is to be able to thin out your sound, so you can ‘skinny up’ a full-on humbucker, for example, and even take the heat out of a P90 pickup! It’s such a straightforward, obvious thing to have on a guitar, and yet nobody did it until Reverend: now it’s one of their calling cards!

The bass contour works fantastically well, allowing you the privilege of sculpting your sound back from the guitar itself instead of always building on top of your tone with external devices. We love the bass contour!

So, there are even more features on each guitars that make Reverend a considered, discerning choice, but for now, let’s show you some of our favourite models...

Reverend

First up, we’ve selected a model that, in many ways, sums up Reverend as a company. The Double Agent reminds us of some classic guitar styles (it’s somewhere between a T-style and an offset in terms of outline) and contains many of Reverend’s distinctive features. Let’s go a little further.

Reverend Double Agent W Periwinkle Burst

First off, you’ll notice that there are two Double Agents in this rundown. But they both look different! True! The bodies are different, as are the bridges. Indeed, the ‘Double Agent’ title seems to refer to the pickup combination, which consists of a bridge humbucker and a neck position P90. These actually balance very well, volume-wise, so you don’t have to factor that into your performance.

These pickups are Reverend’s own design: the NA-5 humbucker and the 9A5 P90. You’ll find these on the other Double Agent we check out here, too. This model has a TOM-style bridge for all those guys who like to dig in and play powerful, physical rhythm parts. The control knobs are lower profile than standard guitar knobs, so you won't accidentally slam your fist into them and change settings when you are in full-on ‘power’ mode!

The bound-edge top, finished in a wide range of gorgeous colours (we opted for Metallic Alpine and Silver Freeze today!), looks beautiful alongside that roasted Maple neck! It blends utility with pizazz in a way that is very acceptable to guitarists.
